A HISTORICAL TIDBIT

From "Bated breath" to "Wrapped around my little finger" the modern person uses terms from falconry vernacular as introduced in the works of Shakespeare whose plays contain more than 50 references to falconry. A "Fed Up" hawk at the end of a hunt is no longer cooperative. A "Boozer" falcon drinks a lot of water. And if you've been "hoodwinked," you were like a hooded falcon whose vision was obscured.
